Ag7 Limited Edition Apollo 11 40th Anniversary from the VAULT NOS #10 of 500
(Last one avaialble)
On July 20, 1969, the crew of NASA’s Apollo 11 made history, becoming the first manned spaceflight to land on the moon.
Launched July 16, 1969, the spacecraft carried Commander Neil A. Armstrong, Command Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin.
On July 20, at 4:18pm EDT, while the entire world held its breath, Eagle 1, the lunar landing craft, safely touched down. Several hours later, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to stand on the moon while Collins orbited above.
The 40th anniversary pen featured a piece of Kapton foil, used as protective thermal insulation on the Apollo 11 Command module, Columbia, which carried the astronauts to the moon and back. This rare artifact floats in a water-clear acrylic dome sealed into the plunger.
The presentation case tells the historic story of the Apollo 11 mission as well as other monumental moments in human spaceflight. The iconic photo of Neil Armstrongs first step on the moon is replicated in a resin casting of the footprint inset into the hinged lid. And, an innovative magnetic pedestal allows the pen to sit on its own launch pad display when the lid is closed. The story continues on the sides of the case with a band of plated stainless steel and is engraved with a timeline that tells the moment-by-moment story of the missions key events.
The pen is finished with black titanium nitride. The detailed engravings inlayed with 24-karat gold includes the sequential serial number, the names of the Apollo 11 crew and the image of an astronaut planting the American flag into the lunar surface.
The Fisher AG7 Space Pen, featuring sealed and pressurized anti-gravity ink cartridge, has been issued to astronauts for NASA human spaceflights since 1968.
While the design is sleek, the true beauty of the AG7 is the hermetically sealed Fisher pressurized ink cartridge (SPR). The ink refill is designed to exist in a chamber that is not affected by air or moisture. The result is a magical pen that can write under any weather conditions, with or without gravity, and in any direction without drying out or leaking.
